Warm wheat buns are a Danish tradition associated with Store Bededag (Great Prayer Day), but it's never too late to enjoy these delicious buns! They are a type of roll, spiced with cardamom and served toasted with a good layer of butter.

Warm the milk and water and crumble the yeast into it.
Peel the cardamom pods and crush them in a mortar.
Stir in the sugar, cardamom, egg, and flour, and knead for about 10 minutes.
Add the salt and butter and knead it well into the dough.
Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for 30 minutes.
Shape into 10 rolls and place them in a steel baking pan.
Let them rest covered for an additional hour.
Bake the buns for 20 minutes at 180°C conventional oven.
Serve toasted with a good layer of butter.
